These 3 videos show the process of assembling and painting our hives and are equally applicable to our nuc boxes.  The last video shows one way of introducing bees to a hive using a shook swarm.

These videos show aspects of using our Kieler mini nuc, which are an excellent size for queen rearing, requiring only the same sized cupful of bees as an Apidea but being larger can accommodate the new queen for longer, allowing a better assessment of her qualities. Top bars are used in this design and a small starter strip needs to be added to the top bars before they are used. The first video shows one way of doing this.

One of their features is the ability to combine two colonies together using the upper body, either for over-wintering or if one colony is queenless.  In this video we set out to show the uniting of two colonies - on the assumption one of them was queenless.  This turned out to be a wrong assumption and the Headless Beekeeper messes up again!

Plastic frames are relatively unknown in the UK but they are not difficult to use and have significant advantages over conventional wooden frames and foundation.  In this video we show a couple of colonies on plastic frames plus a description of how to apply the wax coating to the new frame.

The below videos show the Bee-Z smoker in action, frequently asked questions can be found further down the page:

Is the Bee-Z-Smoker right for me?
Whether you have 1 hive or 1+ thousand hives, the Bee-Z-Smoker will do the job for you safely and consistently for many years to come. No more lighting fires, no more bellows. In 15 seconds you will be into your hives! The only smoke we are blowing is “Cool Bee Smoke, Without the Choke”™. In fact, the Bee-Z-Smoker will probably be the last bee smoker you will ever need to purchase.

How does the Bee-Z-Smoker work?
The Bee-Z-Smoker smolders the wood shavings using a patented heat element contained in the smoker can. This produces great amounts of smoke without the heat buildup of a conventional smoker that uses fire to generate smoke. The near-silent blower fan located in the handle, pushes the “Cool Bee Smoke” out of the can spout. In the time it took to read “how it works” is how quickly you would be in your hive. In fact, most people start the Bee-Z-Smoker as they are walking toward their hives and upon reaching the hives, the Bee-Z-Smoker is ready to go. Multi tasking at its best!

How long does the Bee-Z-Smoker last on a charge?
We have seen many people get more than 200 hives ‘smoked’ from a single charge. If you have multiple hives in satellite locations, simply plug the supplied charger into a common car inverter and top off your battery between bee yards. A fully charged battery will still be ‘fresh’ in 30 days. The life span of the battery with average use is about 4 years.

Why should I purchase the Bee-Z-Smoker?
After using the Bee-Z-Smoker for a few times, you will easily see the value added in NEVER having to light your smoker again. You will be confident knowing the Bee-Z-Smoker is always at arm’s reach, only a few seconds from always making “Cool Bee Smoke, Without the Choke”™.

This video shows uncapping and extraction equipment designed and manufactured by Paradise Honey in Finland.  Also featured is a continuous cappings press which separates cappings from the honey continuously, unlike a conventional cappings spinner which needs to be stopped and emptied.   These cappings screws are available in sizes to handle from 100 to 400 kg of cappings per hour.  The extractors are normally produced in sizes from 40 to 160 frames but larger models are available.

All Paradise Honey equipment can be made to suit UK frames, including National, Smith and Commercial.
